Guidelines for Students

Before we sit down to work: All students should have ready: something to write with, lots of scrap paper (any kind will do), math textbook (if using one), and a math folder (for handouts, tests, quizzes — see below).

Full sessions are fifty minutes long: I offer single, double, and 1.5 sessions. Also, sessions are at least fifty minutes. Unless we have made plans ahead of time, if a student decides on a particular night that the session needs to be shorter than a full session, please understand that I will still need to charge for a full session.

Cancellation policy: If you need to cancel a tutoring appointment, please give me at least 24 hours notice (by phone or txt; please, no email for cancellations). If you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be charged for that appointment (barring family emergencies or illness). Of course, the farther in advance you can let me know, the better. I am always willing to try to find a time to reschedule.

For Sunday appointments: my scheduling policy is cancellations for Sunday sessions have to be made by 5PM Friday (not by email, and of course, barring last minute emergencies). Please keep this in mind if you have a Sunday time.

Folders and keeping tests: Every student should have a folder to keep tests, quizzes, handouts, the syllabus, and any assignment sheets. Tests and quizzes should be kept until June, even if the fall/winter exam and the spring final do not seem to overlap in content; do not throw out any handouts or tests until the end of the school year.

Failing Grades, “Special Reports”: Parents, please keep me informed directly of any pertinent information. While I always ask students, I find that they sometimes forget or are too embarrassed to keep me posted with this information.

If you’d like to contact me, please feel free to email me at lindasgottlieb@yahoo.com. Please put the word “tutoring” somewhere in the subject.
